Cold sore symptoms can be quite severe and lay you up for days - or so mild you barely are bothered.

Cracking of your scab is common and painful also.
Your headaches, fever and swollen lymph glands should now be going away. As healing progresses, you will still experience itching and irritation of the cold sore.
Normally your scab will fall off in a few days. This will reveal new skin.
But healing will still be taking place beneath - which will continue to cause you itching and redness of the area - possibly for another week or two.
At this point it is still contagious and can re-occur quickly.
Your fever and headaches should be about gone now. Your lymph glands should be greatly reduced.
During your final healing process, the cold sore could come back again. Keep using your best cold sore treatment during this time.
Just one more thing.
Cold sores can be spread quite easily to others or to other locations on yourself.
